Small Group Class at Mermaid Labs
For salons or stylists who prefer learning in a small group environment.
Minimum: 5 stylists
Location: Mermaid Labs Salon – New Jersey
These classes are held periodically throughout the year, typically once every couple of months on Mondays.
Group classes include a combination of demonstration, mannequin practice, and live model installation so stylists can build confidence before working on a real client.
Hands-On Practice
Stylists will begin practicing installation techniques on mannequins before moving on to live models for installation practice.
This allows students to develop proper placement and stitching technique before performing the install on a real client.
For group classes, the hosting salon will typically provide mannequins and live models for each stylist.
If mannequins are not available, don’t worry—Kat can help provide mannequins for purchase for the class if needed. We always offer salons the opportunity to provide their own mannequins first to help keep the cost of the education as low as possible.
Model Requirement
For hands-on installation, students will need one live model requiring 1–2 rows of weft extensions.
Models should arrive with:
• Clean, dry hair
• Minimal product buildup
• Enough density to support the installation
Hair for the Installation
Hair is not included in the class price.
The student or model is responsible for purchasing the hair needed for the installation.
Hair can be purchased through Sphynx Hair at professional pricing, and students will also receive a coupon code for additional savings when purchasing hair for the class.
This allows stylists to experience the quality and performance of Sphynx Hair during the installation process.
Optional Mini Tool Kit
Students will have the option to purchase a mini extension tool kit used during training.
The kit will be available at a discounted rate compared to purchasing the tools individually through our website, even with the Sphynx professional discount.

Private education can also be hosted at your salon within New Jersey.

For salons outside of New Jersey, sessions are considered out-of-state education and pricing will be quoted based on travel requirements.
